“Family Fit!” is a board game educating young children at the age of 5-7 years old to eat healthier, do some exercise, and appreciate their own body figure which will eventually decrease their likelihood of facing different kind of diseases such as anorexia, bulimia, and distorted body image. To be effective, this board game is expected to be played daily, thus the design of the board game resembles the clock. The game starts at “7” because 5-7 years old children usually wake up at 7 AM, and...

Communication is an essential part to make a healthy family; however, some families show lack of communication between family members due to their busy schedule. For a self-directed project, I made a box that contains three notebooks (for dad, mom and son). The notebooks are supposed to be filled with events and activities in each member’s life each day. This way, the family can keep track of what’s going on in the other members’ lives even when they can’t actually meet in person.

My artwork shows the translation of typeface (how Caslon inspires Baskerville, Baskerville expires Bodoni, and so on until it reaches Akzidenz Grotesk). I also included some letters printed on translucent paper slides so that the viewers can see the transformation of the letters clearly.

Relationship between Poeple and Everyday Products

This pair of sandals is made entirely of Bristol paper with white glue as the fastener. The paper is folded in a particular way to maximize the structural stability of the sandals and yet makes them aesthetically pleasing. The white sandals offer both comfort and a fashionable look that will not bore the users because the straps can be adjusted into many different arrangements.

Relationship between People and Mobile or Wearable Technology

Experimenting and then working with the LEGO Mindstorms, my partner, Erin Wormsbecker and I created a prototype of a blanket that is a mobile technology for children afraid of the dark. The blanket has a light that will activate when the child hugs the blanket and it will stay lit for a few seconds before slowly fading out. Besides that, when the child presses the two bottom corners of the blanket, two...

Relationship of the Human Body to Spacial Environments

Along with my two design fellows, Kelsey Boorman and Erin Wormsbecker, we designed a 4’x4’x8’ personal space that attempted to evoke a sense of confusion. The boxes are different in size, and it is possible for a person to inhabit the inside and to interact with the boxes by rotating them one by one. The final project generates the feeling of confusion by the unbalanced use of line, shape, size, light and movement...
