Robert Stone
Bio
Rob's interests are in the complex forms of urbanity that arise at intersections of architectural and aural space, cinema, visual art and critical theories and fictions.

His doctorate explored the mutual emergence of modernism and suburban sensibilities. After that, Rob helped build the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths College. He established the Centre for Research Architecture and the MA in Aural and Visual Cultures there.
Here at Emily Carr, he teaches new courses on art writing, photography and moving images; also the poetics of urban gesture (Choreographesis) and sound, space and attention (Vocalese).
His book Auditions: Architecture and Aurality was published by MIT Press in 2015. Recent projects include an essay on sound and felicity for the Nordic Pavilion at Venice and another on crows and drones and worry. He's currently working on a new book: Choreographesis.
