Monastery Project

This project is about representing a monastic community I visited in 2010. The monks were given disposable cameras to take photos in response to a question, "What is a monk?". I also recorded the ambient sound of the monastery. I was amazed to discover that being a monk has much to do with being silent and listening to one's heart. Upon returning to Emily Carr, I created a space on campus for people to experience 8 minutes of silence.
