Audain Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Charles Stankievech Lecture

Please join us in welcoming Charles Stankievech, recipient of the Audain Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Program for Spring/Summer 2016. Stankievech will be giving a public talk in the Emily Carr Theatre, followed by a reception in the Charles H. Scott Gallery.

Open Studio | The Leeway

Open Studio: BYOA (bring your own art)
The Leeway community studio invites artists and designers to attend an open working session. Bring your projects from a variety of disciplines or start something new. All are welcome!

About Open Studios
Open Studios are self-directed, uninstructed three-hour sessions that provide a space for artists to try working in a communal studio.

Draw Down Vancouver

The Leeway Studio will host a collaborative drawing workshop with Vancouver paper artist Rachael Ashe as part of Draw Down Vancouver. Rachael will be facilitating the workshop with guest artist Christina Norberg. Together, along with Vancouver Draw Down participants, they will create a large scale drawing using intricate marks and gestures to see how working small, and working as a group can create something substantial. Participants will use a variety of mark-making materials  and experience working collaboratively in a communal studio.

Studio Visit with Rachael Ashe | The Leeway

Rachael Ashe, paper-cutting artist and latest recipient of The Leeway Studio Residency, will be hosting an open studio on Saturday, June 6. Join us to hear about Rachael's work, to tour The Leeway studio space and meet fellow artists and art enthusiasists.

The event is free and open to the public. No RSVP required.

Tin Can Studio Workshop in The Leeway

Join Jenny Lee Craig and Caroline Ballhorn ('10) of Tin Can Studio in a series of explorations of collaboration and communication within the creative process. In this workshop you will work as part of a group with a variety of media and will move between the Leeway studio and the Tin Can Studio’s mobile project space.

Learn new image transfer techniques and surface treatments for use on a variety of surfaces, including wood, plaster and paper. Clay bodies,including self-hardening clays, will also be discussed.

Free Demonstration at The Leeway

Join us for a free Screen Printing demo, Stencil Techniques with Technician Jacqueline Robins.

A quick, low-tech and non-toxic method of screen printing, stencil techniques are great for beginner or DIY screen printers. Creation and application of both paper and mactac resists will be discussed and demonstrated.
