The Charles H. Scott Gallery and Or Gallery are pleased to present an artist talk by New York artist Matthew Buckingham in conjunction with his exhibition Creative Destruction at the Or Gallery.

 Wilderness and technology seem to be in opposition, however, the current state of ecological and technological change reveals a growing cultural unease around these boundaries. Wild Technologies explores how we orient ourselves to creatively envision meaningful change. How can we weave connections between disparate elements while questioning the very categories of nature and technology? Wild Technologies explores some of the complexities between wilderness, technologies and ‘second nature’ within a context of contemporary art and design practice.

A one-night event in which typographers, architects, product designers, entrepreneurs, information designers and unclassifiable thinkers speak about how their practice has evolved over the past 10 years, and how they came to be doing what they are doing today.

As part of the Swiss Design Exhibition, Pierre Keller, Director, Ecole cantonale de l’art de Lausanne (écal), provides a public lecture.

Recognized by Business Week as one of the best design schools in the world, the Lausanne University of Art & Design, known as écal, owes its meteoric rise to a Director who is variably described as intimidating, irreverent, daring, or just plain charismatic. Pierre Keller has probably done as much to revitalize the image of Swiss design as the invention of the Swatch. art-folio

Malaspina Printmakers is thrilled to bring Jessica Jackson Hutchins to Vancouver for a unique visual presentation and talk.

Thomas Aitken and Kate Hyde will discuss aspects of their individual and collaborative ceramics practice, the challenges of making one’s living as a studio potter, objects that have influenced them and meanings special objects have in their lives.
