A multimedia artist, arts advocate, curator and arts administrator, Hank Bull has been an integral part of the Canadian art scene for over 40 years.

Arthur Gensler founded Gensler, the global architecture, design, planning and strategic consulting firm in 1965. The firm is known for their design of many iconic interior and architectural projects around the world, such as the Shanghai Tower, the second tallest building in the world.

An architect by profession, Arthur is a graduate of Cornell University, where he was named Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995. He currently serves on the Advisory Council of Cornell's College of Architecture, Art and Planning and has previously been a Visiting Professor at Cornell, the University of California at Berkeley, and Arizona State University. He is a Trustee of the Buck Institute for Aging, the California College of the Arts, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Gerald McMaster is a visual artist, curator, and scholar whose work has advanced contemporary Aboriginal art, both nationally and internationally. He is a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (BFA), Carleton University (MA), and the University of Amsterdam’s School for Cultural Analysis (PhD).

Entrepreneurs, business leaders and philanthropists, Chip and Shannon Wilson, set the foundation for design and cultural innovation that lululemon athletica leverages today as a global leader in technical apparel.

Chip founded his first retail apparel company, Westbeach Snowboard Ltd., in 1979, creating apparel targeted at the emerging surf, skate, and snowboard markets. After an incredibly successful run, he sold the company and went on to found lululemon athletica in 1998. In 2004, Ernst & Young named Chip Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year for Innovation and Marketing, and in 2012 the University of Victoria presented him with the Distinguished Entrepreneur award.

Field Contemporary is presenting Deirdre McAdams ('08) and Vanessa Brown ('13) together in its inaugural exhibition Outside A Marble Palace. New works by both artists will be exhibited, highlighting McAdams’ paintings and Brown’s sculptures.

An opening reception takes place on April 24, 2014, from 7 to 9pm. The exhibition runs from April 25 through May 24, 2014.

With the launch of a new exhibit at Science World, Emily Carr University and TRIUMF continue to develop common ground from the inspirations of art and science.

Herzog, Reece + Totino | Audain Prize + VIVA Awards

Noted photographer and Emily Carr Honourary Doctorate recipient Fred Herzog has been honoured with the Audain Prize for the Visual Arts for lifetime achievement. Awarded annually by the Audain Foundation, the award is worth $30,000.

Fred Herzog has been active in Vancouver's art scene for more than forty years. Born in Germany, he came to Vancouver in 1953. Since that time, he has produced a substantial body of photographs, taking urban life in Vancouver -second-hand shops, vacant lots, neon signage and the crowds of people who have populated the city's streets over the past fifty years-as his primary subject.

Emily Carr University is looking for volunteers to fill a variety of positions to help with set-up, registration and greeting for The Show 2014 (Graduation Exhibition). This is the biggest event of the year and we are looking for individuals who are friendly, reliable and knowledgeable about Emily Carr University. There are a number of positions available for students, staff, faculty and alumni.
