Employee + Family Assistance Program
The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is a confidential and voluntary counselling support service that provides you and your family with the help you need to resolve a wide range of personal, work, health, or life issues. It is designed to help you and your eligible dependents with any personal challenges that affect your family life, your work life, or your general well-being. EFAP provides both short-term clinical counselling and work-life consultations to all eligible ECU employees and their dependent family members, at no cost to users.

Professional Counselling + Support Services
EFAP provides professional assistance for a wide range of issues including: personal and work-related stress; mental health concerns; depression and anxiety; crisis situations; relationships and family issues; childcare and parenting; eldercare concerns; workplace challenges; career advice; addictions; alcohol and drug misuse; legal advice; financial guidance; nutrition; physical well-being; and more.
No Cost
There is no cost to you or your eligible dependents to use EFAP. EFAP can provide a series of sessions with a professional and if you need more specialized or longer-term support, the professional can suggest an appropriate specialist or service that is best suited to your needs. While fees for these additional services are your responsibility, they may be covered by your provincial health plan or the ECU’s extended health benefits coverage.
Confidentiality
All EFAP services are confidential, within the limits of the law. This means that no one will ever know that you have used the program unless you choose to tell them. ECU is not informed of the identity of those using any of the EFAP services, including online services.
