This is my graduating project and it is still in progress. The goal of this project is to create opportunities for people to reflect on their relationship with technology. By creating humorous yet provocative scenarios, the project explores various possibilities on a hypothetical human-to-mobile device interface. Through this playful exploration, the audience is given a chance to find new perspective on their relationship with technology.

This project is about representing a monastic community I visited in 2010. The monks were given disposable cameras to take photos in response to a question, "What is a monk?". I also recorded the ambient sound of the monastery. I was amazed to discover that being a monk has much to do with being silent and listening to one's heart. Upon returning to Emily Carr, I created a space on campus for people to experience 8 minutes of silence.

This assistive medical device is designed to help people with limited arm strength (such as Muscular Dystrophy or ALS) enjoy a bowl of soup independently. The user’s hand is connected to the back of a chair through a belt. The simple forward and backward movement of the trunk activates the shoulder as a fulcrum to lift the hand to the user’s mouth.

The chandelier is inspired by the letter "X".  It is cut out from MDF by CNC.  Visitors were encouraged to meditate by hanging laser cut paper monkeys on the chandelier.  The candles were handmade by a Fort Langley candle shop.
