SOCS 301: Meanings of New Technologies

Introducing and using methodologies from the social sciences, including anthropology, economics, political science, psychology, and sociology as well as those from science, the arts, media and design, this course will investigate how new technologies are affecting our perspectives towards, as well as our place in, contemporary thought and culture. Technological "advances" including social networking, surveillance, virtual technologies, GIS, biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, and robotics will be highlighted along with historical examples.
