undress

undress: concepts of clothing + body in art

The body is undeniably a fundamental and paramount subject in art-making, (and consequently it is one of the most difficult to address without being trite). The body has also become so intertwined with the clothing we put on it that it is nearly impossible to consider one without facing the other. Clothing politicizes the body. It is an apparatus employed to manipulate relationships between bodies as well as an instrument of a person's intimate relationship with their own body.

Pedestrian in the Concourse Gallery

PedestrianThe composer/artist/maker is aware of the influence the past (people who have ‘walked’ before them) has on their art and work to define themselves or their path accordingly. As this topic of relating the past, while situating one’s present, is easily relevant to all art and design practices, this exhibit is varied, while being reviewed as indisputably dynamic.
