       The aim of this project was to design footwear using only cardstock and PVA glue. Using the least amount of materials possible, the designer was expected to work efficiently and with innovation. Not only would the shoe or sandal need to be designed ergonomically with the user’s foot, but also with structural and strength considerations. Designers created cell-like structures to meet the mandatory thickness, and ultimately support their own weight.

CONCEPT  A pair of sandals designed using cellular structure and a minimalist aesthetic. DEVELOPMENT  Using structures inspired from nature, the soles of the sandals prove to be durable and light weight while also providing a custom fit. Materials used were limited to 2-ply bristol board and white glue.

Relationship between Poeple and Everyday Products

This pair of sandals is made entirely of Bristol paper with white glue as the fastener. The paper is folded in a particular way to maximize the structural stability of the sandals and yet makes them aesthetically pleasing. The white sandals offer both comfort and a fashionable look that will not bore the users because the straps can be adjusted into many different arrangements.
