The goal of this project was to create a wearable or mobile piece with sensors, using the Lego Mindstorm kit. My partner and I decided to make a backpack targeted towards elementary kids; the backpack acts as a security for the kid when they are walking home from school in areas that are not well-lit. The bag detects the light levels and it lights up accordingly. Additionally, blinking alert lights can also be activated by the kid. A touch sensor at the bottom detects when the bag is not in use and turns the whole bag off.

CONCEPT A wearable/mobile product emphasizing an aspect of man-machine interaction. DEVELOPMENT This project was a team collaboration using the capabilities of Lego Mindstorms technology. The end result was a preliminary working prototype of an interactive blanket for children.

A collaborative piece with fellow design student Grey Vaisius, the goal for this project was to design a wearable, interactive device that takes input from the surrounding world and outputs some form of information.
We chose to take a conceptual approach to this project, and design a shirt that takes information from the wearer (such as audio, temperature and touch) and outputs their mood based on the data collected.
