Leslie Bishko

Bio

Leslie Bishko’s work is centered on the dynamics of expression through movement in the medium of animation, influenced by abstract experimental animation and contemporary modern dance. Exploration of these themes led her to integrate 3D computer animation with Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), which are the focus of her research and teaching. Recent work includes 3D computer animation tutorials for the Autodesk Industry Careers Framework, and Guest Faculty for the Laban/Bartenieff and Somatic Studies Canada professional certification program in LMA.

Rudolf Laban (1879-1958) was the most important movement theorist of the twentieth century and the founding father of modern dance in central Europe. He considered human movement in the contexts of science and art, embracing a continuum from nature to spirituality.
