description

Rembrain is an electronic RFID memory aid that tells a person whether or not they have items like their keys as they walk out the door. Using sound, colour and images the device seeks to help those with short term memory loss function independently.

RFID tags are attached to the user's wallet, keys and phone. An RFID reader is activated when the door is opened and recognizes whether the tagged objects are on the user as they leave home. If an item is missing the user is notified.

BC Children's Hospital Patient Tracking

description

The BC Children's Hospital Patient Tracking project gave us the opportunity to work directly with BCCH to create a proposal for a streamlines patient tracking system. To accomplish this we visited the facility, interviewed the staff and collected information about their current systems.

My contribution to the project was to research the potential uses of RFID tags in a patient authentication system. After learning about the technology and interviewing BCCH staff and Provincial Government representatives, I put together a proposal for implementing the system, and built a working demo that used passive RFID tags to log in to a lightweight web-based authentication system.
