Samson
description
This monograph contains the story of Samson's life, as told in the Book of Judges. The story is quite violent and unsettling, so the design is meant to reflect those feelings. Because the source of Samson's power is his hair, I chose to use human hair in various graphic treatments, from creating letters forming the title spreads and drop caps, to subtle ornaments, to abstract illustrations. The hair was photographed, edited, placed into the book and printed with the rest of the text on warm-coloured paper. The book was hand-bound using a coptic technique, to give it a raw, unfinished feel.

This project went through some heavy salvaging and beautification (thank god for Photoshop!) after some ill-judged colour choices.
