David Khang | SymbioticA, Perth, Australia

Sessional faculty member, David Khang, will be participating in a six month residency at SymbioticA Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts, University of Western Australia, in Perth, Australia.

David will be conducting biological research that fuses his dual training in art and dentistry. By using tissue culture biotechnology, he will experiment with growing dental cells into desired shapes, in effect making “enamel sculptures.”

Aristotle's Lagoon,a documentary directed and produced by Associate Professor Harry Killas, premiers in the UK, Sunday, January 17, at 9pm on BBC4.

Teacher of Alexander The Great and student of Plato, Aristotle is unquestionably one of the most important philosophers of all time. He was also the founder of modern biology and one of the first men to attempt to explain the human soul scientifically.

The works of Emily Carr University of Art + Design faculty member (Visual Arts), Diyan Achjadi and Brendan Tang feature in Sugar Bombs at the MAI (Montreal, arts interculturels). 

Sugar Bombs is a traveling exhibition rooted in a neo-pop aesthetic. Taking visual cues from toys, cartoons, and manga, Sugar Bombs touches on geopolitics, war, and military culture.

Part of the BC Applied Arts History Project, the BC Design History Exhibition explores the creativity, form and look of of individual and mass-produced works of functional design, craft and applied arts in British Columbia from early times to present day.

The exhibition is curated by Associate Professor Sam Carter.

Diyan Achjadi: The Further Adventures of Girl

The Further Adventures of Girl addresses the complexity of negotiating the current socio-political climate through the simplistic visual language of children's media. Assistant Professor, Diyan Achjadi's print series portray a single character, "Girl", as she navigates perilous dystopic landscapes informed by news events and popular culture images in cartoon-like visual narratives.
