The first project for Peter Cocking's Complex Typography course, the content of this cookbook was meant to be interpreted in different ways according to our style and what the content dictated. Inspired by the rich colors in food and personal style the aim was to elevate the appearance of a cookbook making it modern, stylish and appealing.
A Hunger Artist

A Hunger Artist is based on a project that required to re-interpret Franz Kafka's "A Hunger Artist" short story into an e-book. As the story was first published in 1922 and because of the obscure nature of the narrative, I took inspiration from Edward Gorey's gothic style and tried to incorporate it in a modern setting. This way, the style can communicate the dark emotions of the narrative while remaining intriguing and fun to read.

The main job of advertisement in media is to convince women that their value entirely depends on their looks, and that aging is the worst thing that could happen to their appearance. Many women’s magazines are problematic in this way; there is an imbalance of priority with far too much emphasis on appearance, and not enough on stories and experience.
Ladies of a Certain Age is a quarterly publication that aims to bridge dialogue between women of all walks and ages. Through shared stories of real experience, we want to provide a type of media that is not focused on unrealistic ideals of female beauty. Rather, we want to be a hub where women from all ages can celebrate their thoughts, opinions, and stories.

Annie's Homegrown Shells and White Cheddar

This poster was done for Advanced Typography with Peter Cocking. We had to take the contents printed on food packaging and make a poster with the name of the product, the nutritional information and the promotional copy. I chose "Annie's Homegrown Shells & White Cheddar" and stuck to the colour palate of the packaging which is yellow and purple.

This was a 4th year typography project where we were give specific body of text to format. Me approach for the printed ticket was to address the two users as being the traveler and the flight steward. The text for the traveller is large and simple to follow and understand by everyone. The area of ticket for the steward is very clean and understated as it is there for commercial use only.
Local Heroes

This project posed the unique challenge of designing a cookbook without images. The hand illustrated headings and title pages are inspired by 1950’s window lettering, while selective colour creates hierarchy within the recipes.
