SameRoad

images

description

Community is at the core of Christianity. Although we live in a world connected by technology, in many areas, it is causing physical distance. SameRoad is an online application that utilizes technology to connect individuals to their local Christian communities, by identifying, informing, and illuminating the beauty of the Christian churches.

olive display

description

Given the task of creating a modular display typeface, I thought of ways in which I could go the opposite of current trends. Observing that one prominent trends was angular modifications to geometric sans serif fonts, I figured that the opposite would be something circular or organic. From this thinking stemmed Olive Display; a friendly, sophisticated modular typeface.

concerning the spiritual in indie rock

description

I was asked to design a magazine spread for the article Concerning the Spiritual in Indie Rock. After familiarizing myself with its content, I decided it would be more creative, interesting, and appropriate to design a traditional scroll. Both the illustrations and background image/texture is custom made. This was a great lesson in designing for the content.

Doxa (Documentary Film Festival)

description

Doxa was a typographical system re-brand and understanding how a company can have many faces with the same aesthetical brand. The brand touchpoints include posters, advertisement cards, bus shelters, bus ads and a twitter icon/profile.

The affect for this logo was achieved by studying the shadows of light from a cinematic perspective.

Body Talk

description

Body Talk is a collaboration grad project between myself and a fellow communication design student, Andrea Husky. Both from personal experience and from talking to our peers over the years that Vancouver has a bit of a sociability problem. Through initial secondary research our suspicions turned out to be true and we discovered that Vancouver is perceived as a cold and unfriendly city, both by locals and outsiders. This made us sad so we set out to find a way to approach this situation.

Capitalized Phrases in 1984

description

This poster was done for a typography class with Celeste Martin. It involved sourcing content from amazon.com about a book of our choice; in my case I chose to look at capitalized phrases in 1984 by George Orwell. What you see is actually a photograph of laser-cut typography, which was then manipulated in photoshop and reflected. I wanted the 'tone' of the poster to be dark and imposing like the subject matter of the book.

Annie's Homegrown Shells and White Cheddar

images

description

This poster was done for Advanced Typography with Peter Cocking. We had to take the contents printed on food packaging and make a poster with the name of the product, the nutritional information and the promotional copy. I chose "Annie's Homegrown Shells & White Cheddar" and stuck to the colour palate of the packaging which is yellow and purple.
