Blaine Campbell ('07 and former sessional instructor) and Megan Wilson ('01 and sessional instructor, North Island campus) are presenting a large scale installation of their collaborative video project, Chase, as part of this year's Scotiabank Nuit Blanche Toronto. Nuit Blanche, opening Saturday, 29 September, 2012, is an annual one night arts event with an estimated attendance of over one million.

This summer, GOOD and the BMW Guggenheim Lab launched a worldwide, online call for imaginative and unconventional ways to improve urban comfort. Members of the public were invited to propose changes to a public space of their choice, taking into consideration the community, environment, architecture, landscape, and other elements that would shape the experience.

Nicole Ondre ('10) has been named the winner of the 2012 Contemporary Art Society Emerging Artist’s Prize. The $3,000 award was presented to Ondre at the opening of the CASV Emerging Artist's Prize Exhibition at Access Gallery.

The other four finalists included three Emily Carr alumni: Scott Billings ('07), Jeremy Hof ('07) and Natalie Purschwitz ('01). Each finalist received a prize of $250.

Farmer, Jungen + Moore | dOCUMENTA (13)

dOCUMENTA (13) taking place in Kassel, Germany, will feature the works of Geoffrey Farmer ('92), Brian Jungen ('92) and Gareth Moore ('04).

The German exhibition is one of the biggest and most influential art exhibitions in the world and is known for selecting cutting-edge contemporary artists and under-acknowledged historial artists. This year dOCUMENTA (13) will attract more than 750,000 people paying to see works by more than 70 artists from 55 countries.

The work of Emily Carr will also be featured prominently, with seven of her works on loan from the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The exhibit runs from June 9 to September 16, 2012.

Cléa Lautrey + Samuel Lee | IDSA Merit Award Winners

The Emily Carr community congratulates Samuel Lee and Cléa Lautrey, recipients of the Senior and Junior (respectively) Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) NW Student Merit Awards. Their work was  selected by an independent jury of professional designers in Seattle, Washington.

Samuel presented his work at the Western Design Dialogue Conference earlier in May along with Senior Merit Award Winners from Western Washington University and University of Washington.

Cléa  will present at the regional junior banquet, to be held in Seattle,WA, June 1, along with Junior Merit Award winners from Western Washington University and University of Washington.

Kristen Campbell Receives Best Animation Award at TIFF Student Film Showcase

2012 graduate Kristen Campbell's  film Swift has been selected as Best Animation at the TIFF 2012 Student Film Showcase.

The Student Film Showcase features the finest in student films from universities and colleges across Canada. With the participation of the Film School Consortium, this TIFF event presents a range of student films in diverse forms — including animation, documentary, fiction and experimental works representing the burgeoning talent of our nation’s next generation of filmmakers.
