RIGHT | A Gallery Exhibition of Community Projects: The Red Tent Campaign

RIGHT, a group exhibition, responds to Canada’s lack of a national housing strategy, and specifically to Vancouver’s housing crisis. Emily Carr University of Art and Design student Avalon Mott and recent graduate Katrina Humphries are pleased to make their curatorial debut with works created by students enrolled in Community Projects: The Red Tent Campaign, a class offered through the Faculty of Community + Culture during the 2011 winter semester in partnership with Pivot Legal Society.

Fall 2011 Registration

Students who have been accepted into the Degree program register for Fall 2011 courses starting on May 31. The registration website, insideEC, opens at 9:00am.

New students should read Registration Basics to learn how to select courses to their Preferred List and register through insideEC.

Emilio Rojas Selected for Pirate Camp at the 54th Venice Biennale

Emily Carr Masters Candidates Sean Arden and Myron Campbell will be participating in Vancouver's first Mini Maker Faire.

Vancouver Mini Maker Faire is a two-day celebration of making and creating. It’s an all-ages family festival promoting the ethos of DIY on a large scale. Vancouver Mini Maker Faire will take you through an inspiring, energetic and captivating range of exhibits, including workshops, performances, displays, and a speaker series.

Congratulations to Phoebe Hua Jin (Third Year Photo Major) and Alexa Kirsten Stroth (Fourth Year Photo Major) who won this year's nationwide photography contest, SNAP!Star based in Toronto. Each SNAP!Star receives a bursary from TD in the amount of $1500.00 towards their studies, and a coupon from Blurb Publishing worth $50.00.

Samantha Lefort | Generation Green Award

Congratulations to third year student Samantha Lefort - her project, Local Choice, has been selected by the Vancouver Foundation Generation Green Awards! This special initiative provides up to $12,500 in cash awards for environmental projects created by young people 6-24.

Greg Klassen | In-Between at Capitol Theatre

Greg Klassen, MAA Candidate, is currently exhibiting his photographic work in the exhibit In-Between, at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton, New Bruinswick.

The exhibit reflects his greatly enhanced communcation with his children and is a collaborative effort with his daughter, Morgan, which began when she was just nine.

James Kemp | The Hall Gallery

Fourth year student, James Kemp, is currently exhibiting his sculptures at the Hall Gallery. His visceral and contemporary sculptures combine concrete, furniture, ceramics and sheep skin.

Exhibiting now through the summer of 2011 at the Hall Gallery,  81 Kingsway Street, Vancouver, BC.

Holton Brock | Archive Project

Current third year student Holton Brock will exhibit Archive Project at the Gam Gallery.

The collection of new works in Archive Project follows the reconstruction of family history documented through photography. By manipulating and recreating archived photographs through paint, he creates a foothold - implicating connections to and from himself.

Summer 2011 U Pass

The U Pass BC program is an integrated comprehensive transportation package that provides students in Metro Vancouver with universal, accessible and affordable access to public transit and other sustainable transportation programs. It is a mandatory program for all members of the Emily Carr Students' Union and costs $30 per month ($120 per semester). the program was approved via student referendum in October 2010.

Summer 2011 U Pass Distribution

Your tuition and U Pass BC fee must be paid before a pass can be issued to you. You must present your Emily Carr Student ID in order to obtain your pass. The distribution schedule for the summer is:
