The Commons @Public Libraries was featured on the DESIS research lab website for social innovation and sustainability.
The Commons @Public Libraries is a communal, modifiable space in libraries that all members of the public can interact with or curate on any topic that interests them. It enables individuals to contribute directly to the content of the library, while providing a physical and virtual platform in which to engage in public discourse.
The Commons aims to tap into each person's interests and expertise to create shared learning experiences, while empowering both the individual and collective voice. It is about taking one person or group’s idea and seeing how we, as a community, can collectively expand upon it.
Cuboid
description
Cuboid is a multifunctional furniture/landscape that was designed for the children in St. Barnabas Daycare. The research covered for this project included children’s ergonomics, and their psychology with play. The assembly of this piece encourages the children to use their creativity to make different constructions. At the same time, it promotes the interaction between the children by helping each other. Targeted at an environment with very limited space, the design was intended to serve more than one purpose to decrease the need to purchase more furniture. The main materials used are honeycombs and plywood as an environmental alternative to solid plywood.

Robbinson Tiling Wall Mugs
description
Robbinson Tiling Wall mugs are designed with Cafes in mind. Using only standard 1/2" dowels the cups can be hung to cover entire walls and act as interactive interior architecture and as convenient and unobtrusive storage.
Customers may remove a cup from the wall, bring it to the barrista and have it filled over and over again. At the table, the hole in the mug handle may be used to hold a spoon. After use the mugs may be washed and hung back in place to drip dry until the next thirsty customer is ready for a hot beverage.
