VIFF Concept

description

A new identity concept for Vancouver International Film Festival. The current VIFF identity changes every year and isn't very visually engaging and there's little consistency for a recognizable image. My new concept creates a simple identity puts the focus on the featured films, and the simple word mark can easily evolve to adapt to different films and themes year after year.

Intro/Extro

description

For our core studio class we developed a packaged set of books. The two books we cut to  "fit" together within the folder package.

The books depicted works of graphic design over the decades, and used the framing of introverted and extroverted work as reference to the socioeconomic status at the time of creation.

Their seemed to be a link between civil unrest and times of change with more "extroverted" types of design. While safer, and more conservative "introverted" designs were created in times of content.

Designing a cookbook can be among the hardest of typographic challenges. The finished product has to be aesthetically-pleasing enough to attract potential purchasers, yet clear and concise enough to function as a kind of "how-to" manual, that most any literate person can easy navigate through and cook from.

This assignment is to produce a prototype of a contemporary text-only cookbook. The goal in this assignment is to revitalize the text-only cookbook by producing something that, despite its lack of imagery, is nonetheless both beautiful and functional.
