AllSet: Fashionable & Supportive Wearable
description
AllSet is a jacket designed for people suffering from Parkinson’s disease. This training wearable promotes the formation of new neural pathways for routine movements, in order to facilitate energy conservation. Symptoms of the disease are most often triggered or worsened by fatigue and stress, so reducing these factors makes daily activities easier. The jacket functions as a passive reminder system, promoting certain motions over others. For example, when swiping an access card, it is easier for someone with a limited range of motion to do so with his or her arm extended; however, the natural motion for swiping a card involves bending the elbow, which causes more strain on the arm muscles.

Project Tunnel Vision - Playground Co-Creation
description
Project Tunnel Vision implemented several activities to see what does and does not work in co-creating with children. An activity booklet was tested, along with playground building with shapes and pieces, an obstacle course and fort building session in a gymnastics studio, as well as in-playground play and game making. Some activities were distracting, some outcomes were predictable, and some activities were very surprising. One thing was certain about the co-creation activities: that simply being around the children gave the design team immense insight into how they play and see the world.
SonicSight for Dogs
description
SonicSight is a sensor-equipped head halter that enables blind dogs to navigate more easily without running into things. The placement, range and feedback were developed using co-creation with both humans and dogs. My own dog tested SonicSight while blindfolded and was able to navigate without running into objects placed in his path.
