Capitalized Phrases in 1984
description
This poster was done for a typography class with Celeste Martin. It involved sourcing content from amazon.com about a book of our choice; in my case I chose to look at capitalized phrases in 1984 by George Orwell. What you see is actually a photograph of laser-cut typography, which was then manipulated in photoshop and reflected. I wanted the 'tone' of the poster to be dark and imposing like the subject matter of the book.
Annie's Homegrown Shells and White Cheddar
description
This poster was done for Advanced Typography with Peter Cocking. We had to take the contents printed on food packaging and make a poster with the name of the product, the nutritional information and the promotional copy. I chose "Annie's Homegrown Shells & White Cheddar" and stuck to the colour palate of the packaging which is yellow and purple.

Rebrand: Word on the Street
description
Word on the Street Festival is held annual in major cities of Canada, celebrating literature and gathering enthusiasts every year. This fictitious identity plays on the idea of duality between the fun and imagination of stories, as well as the acknowledgement of history and depth behind novels and books.
The Hunger Artist
description
Telling a Story with Type: Text & Display
A complex typography project highlighting a short story, The Hunger Artist, written by Franz Kafka.
The objective was to create a large-sized, multi-page folio by combining both narrative text and expressive display type to tell a story.
Indie Rock Read-Along
description
This design project was the result of a re-formating of an article from the Believer Magazine. I created an banger typeface with a ball piont pen to give the pull quotes a scratchy feel, and used a mixture of calm and chaotic landscape photography to intertwine with the article. Through out the article Judy Berman talks about different bands and songs in relation to spiritual sounds and influences, the songs are in read along order on the compact disc. The photography was taken on travel in and around Metro Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Quebec City, Portland, Seattle and San Francisco.
Typographic Flash Cards
description
This was a typographic research project, we were to research the history of twelve of the most commonly used typefaces and design a postcard for each one. I decided to make them in to flash cards, one side displays the four letters which differentiate the typefaces, the other side gives a brief history of the typeface and shows a brand logo in which the typeface has most currently be used for. This was an eye opening project as I had not realised the power typefaces have had in changing the world from the gothic typefaces of the Dark Ages to the humanist typefaces of the Renaissance.
Aesop's Fabels
description
This is a book project from a Print Publishing class, we had our choose of which Aesop's Fables to include. I wanted to create graphic illustrations to accompany the story with a relative scene.
Jim Phillips Commemorative Stamp
description
We were asked to create a stamp set in tribute to a graphic designer of our choosing. Jim Phillips of Santa Cruz is a huge influence and inspiration to my art and design. In this Canadiana winter version of Jim Phillips icons the Screeming Hand is now a frost bitten glove, and Slasher is transformed in to a beaver on a canoe paddle. The screeming glove always reminds me of the time I shattered my forearm snowboarding at Lake Lousie.
