Museum Exhibition Brochure

description

The aim of this project was to design a universal template of a brochure that could be used again and again for coming exhibitions. To achieve a smooth flow of narration about the artist and his/her work, I first determined how the brochure was folded and planned a sequence in which it was to be unfolded by a reader.

Typographic Poster

description

This poster is 1 out of a series of 3 other posters featuring a specific typefamily I was required to use; Scala Sans, Bodoni and Adobe Caslon. This particular poster was a combination iteration where I used all three typefaces at once in order to make a statement.

Fall Into Colour

description

These spreads are based off of a publication similar to the Australian magazine, “Frankie.” Like the inspiration publication, this magazine is geared towards a slightly alternative and yet, still relatively mainstream audience who is interested in fashion, but also interested in art and culture.

The art directed story of this spread is based on “the bounty of the harvest.” We took the colors I found in the bounty of the fall harvest and incorporated them into the fall fashion color palette.

Our job was to art direct and shoot the photographic content for the publication and lay it out onto spreads, which would appeal to a target audience similar to that of “Frankie” magazine.

Current Design Journal

description

Current is a student driven publication, which is funded by Emily Carr University with editorial work and designs created by the students. Current is a design journal meant to create transparency within the design field and design process.

My job as Art Director was to forsee all the jobs within the Design group and illustrate the cover.

The concept behind the cover is based on the idea of mind mapping and design process — the restrained chaos and inter-connectivity behind design thinking.

Alcuin Awards Poster

images

description

This poster is one of the many posters ECU Communication Design students made to advertise the awards, which were held at Emily Carr University.

I chose to typographically draw parallels between how I've treated the sans-serif typeface and the orientation of books on a book shelf.

My poster was also featured on the Alcuin Blog.

Fire Goddess

description

Pele is the Goddess of fire, dance, lightening and volcanoes. I chose one of many stories about her for this typography fairytale project. Pele's black hair of lava, her fierce fire of red, and contrasting warm, peaceful Hawaiian climate all inspired the design of the book.

UNDR

description

This book was produced for a third year level school project. The basis of the project was to use expressive typography to translate (enhance) a story or fairytale. I chose to do a typographic translation of Jorge Luis Borges story entitled "Undr" (meaning Wonder).
