This self-directed project served as an exploration of editorial design using three articles about Sofia Coppola's films, The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette and Lost in Translation.
Current 02
description
Current is Emily Carr University's academic journal with the intent of demystifying the design process. The journal is designed, edited, produced and marketed by undergraduates in communication design with article contributions from students in both the graduate and undergraduate programs, alumni and faculty. As an Art Director, I was in charge of the design and production of the second issue of Current, putting special emphasis on creating a visual language that was energetic and professional, reflecting the enthusiastic vision of the featured authors and Emily Carr's ongoing passion for design and its practice. I also photographed and designed the cover.

It is published quarterly and in a range of different formats and themes everytime to cover the various mediums present at the institution. As part of the design and editorial team, I am in charge of creating Woo’s branding, layout, visual vocabulary and typographic design of each issue, as well as considering and reviewing every submission and article prior to publishing. Applied Arts
description
Our world is becoming increasingly urbanized and interconnected. YVR Airport served as a relevant backdrop for articles about global thinking, information overload, the ethical responsibilities of designers, and the possibilities of working together. The images taken, typographic selections, colors, rules, etc. are all abstractions of the content written within the articles. Images are placed to challenge our perceptions of space and to illustrate the scope of our current global situation. The content provided for me by Applied Arts spoke of the future.
AU Magazine
description
Publication design for a fictional magazine about the science of astronomy and its relation to other areas of interest, such as art, fashion and literature. The magazine was named AU, for astronomical units, a unit of measure in astronomy. This project combined two of my most passionate interests: print design and astronomy. The magazine is intended for youth and young adults, and tries to break conventions by incorporating a motif of diagonal lines throughout the publication.

Examining the globally connected culture of today, and attempting to understand, and explain through aspirational and reflective design, the often overwhelming activity of living in it.
The use of print, as a medium, allows an opportunity for analysis and reflection, separated from the always-on world it records.

Zaha Hadid monograph
description
An exploration of the works of Pritzker Prize–winning architect Zaha Hadid through the physical properties of print.
A distinctive size, multiple paper stocks, and a non-rectangular cover add a tactility suggestive of Hadid's architecture; the content is presented in a way that forces the reader to turn the publication to continue.
