Drawing from Life (CSDR 102)
Devote time to developing skills in observational drawing. Working directly from still-life arrangements, photographic references, models, and on-location, you will learn to record visual experience through representational drawing. Projects will focus on seeing and describing fully realized forms situated in space using lighting, composition, proportion, and relationships of form. Drawing exercises and assignments will vary in length from quick studies to more developed compositions, with the opportunity to explore more fully realized work by the end of this course. Techniques of representational drawing are applicable to a wide range of visual narrative forms, and this course is designed for anyone who wants to learn to draw from life, and build on their skills and confidence.
