Black + White Film Photography (CEPH 120)

This course is for students seeking a robust introduction to the manual operation of a 35mm camera and black-and-white darkroom techniques. Learn film processing, enlargement techniques and hand and/or machine processing to develop and print your own black-and-white photographs. You will be encouraged to expand your understanding of the technical and aesthetic possibilities of photography while exploring your own style and interests. This course provides access to Emily Carr University's photography studios under the guidance of expert instructors and technicians. Students must bring their own 35mm manual camera.

Course Format

This course is offered on campus.

Instructional Hours: 24 hours (6 classes, 4 hours per class)

Additional Hours: 24 hours for independent study and practice, assignment completion and homework.
