Art Appreciation for English Language Learners (CSEL 102)

Blending language instruction and visits to local art sites, this course is designed for students interested in improving their English communication skills and expanding their vocabulary related to visual arts. Students will participate in field trips to local galleries, visit public art sites and listen to lectures organized by ECU Speaker Series. Students will improve their communication skills by engaging in discussions about art making and art appreciation, as well as writing reflections, descriptions and exhibition reviews. Through a variety of dynamic teaching methods, exciting projects, and peer and instructor feedback, students will build their confidence, learn to communicate their ideas more effectively and gain an expanded appreciation of visual art.
